A Rose
Tea Party
I obviously
adore tea and roses and thought it would be nice to share some ideas
for a sweet Rose Themed Tea Party. . . it's very girly!
Tea and Roses always conjure up the romantic images
of afternoon garden tea parties and delicate Spring days. Add some
romance to your next tea party with the beautiful colours and
fragrances of rose petals and fresh roses in bloom.
Setting
the scene
Set the scene in the prettiest
of ways for your guests.
Search
out pretty tea party invitations and little placecards with rose
designs. If you are feeling creative they can easily be made
and then
printed from your home computer.
Maybe
you have a collection of Grandma's china tucked away in a cupboard
somewhere. It's nice to use it. China patterned with roses
can be
vintage or brand new.
Mix and match
different rosy pieces for a really chic
and pretty effect. Sometimes the shabbier the better.
Cake
forks and/or teaspoons with roses on them are divine.
Set
the tone with sweet cut glass crystal vases overflowing with
full-bloomed blowsy roses. Or find that dear old chipped teapot you
have and display your roses in that.
Perhaps you
have gorgeous
linen and napery that has a rose print on them, or embroidered roses or
they match the colour of your roses. A single baby rosebud tucked into
a linen napkin is a beautiful place setting.
Think
creatively with your food also. There are many ways to incorporate
roses and rose petals in such delicious ways.
Place rosebuds
in the top of little petite fours or cupcakes.
Float
rose petals in tall glass jugs if iced water or lemonade.
Rose Petal Sandwiches
These
simply gorgeous and very, very pretty sandwiches will make your Rose
Tea Party an affair to remember
ingredients
Sweet-scented
red or pink rose petals - freshly picked
White bread
Butter
method
ensure
your rose petals are freshly washed and pat them dry with paper towel.
Take the 'heel' off of them with a knife. This is the very centre base
of the petal, it may be a paler colour.
Slice the
bread very
thinly, spread with butter and arrange a layer of rose petals on top
before covering with another thin slice of buttered bread. Cut into
triangles, best made just before serving.
Sugared Rose Petals
Use
these beautiful Sugared Rose Petals for decorating Cakes, Cupcakes and
all manner of other Afternoon Teatime delicacies
you will need
Rose
Petals
Egg White
Caster Sugar
method
Simply
lightly whisk the Egg White.
Dip each Rose Petal into the
Egg White.
Remove and then dip into the Caster Sugar,
ensuring both sides are fairly evenly coated.
Air dry the Rose Petals on a cake rack until dry. This will
take a number of hours. They will store well in a
dry, airtight container.
Rose Petal Butter
Imagine,
freshly baked scones, sweet little pikelets, tea breads, even
sandwiches, spread with this delicious scented rose
petal butter. Turn it out onto a vintage cut glass butter dish
and
have it on your table, now that's what I call pretty!
Ingredients
rose
petals
butter - at room temperature is best
glass dish
method
Into
your glass dish place a layer of rose petals. Cover the petals with a
layer of butter on top, then place another layer of petals, then butter
etc: until you have used all your ingredients. Cover the dish and place
in the fridge overnight. The butter will absorb all the rose petal
flavours.
